It is no longer necessary to join LTC4, renew membership or pay an annual membership fee as LTC4 has changed its business model.
LTC4 is a non-profit organization, that has established legal technology core competencies and certification that all law firms can use to measure ongoing efficiency improvements. The service targets both attorneys and support staff, and is made up of individuals from firms, legal departments and legal non-profits. Law firms, law schools and legal departments can now purchase the core competencies individually and use them to structure their training programs and work towards building competence with legal technology and seeking LTC4 certification. After signing the license agreement and purchasing the LTC4 learning plan/s they need, organizations will still benefit from becoming part of a global network of their peers with various benefits, including sharing ideas, issues and solutions with others; attending meetings and webinars; plus working with the vendor and training provider community. The learning plans are designed to be application agnostic, reflecting the way that lawyers and their support staff really work.
LTC4 certification is still available for each competency and is one of the most important benefits as it demonstrates to clients the organization’s commitment to technology competence. To date, over 14,000 individuals are certified. With the change in the business model, LTC4 has also changed its website to www.ltc4.org. It now features an online shop where an organization can purchase and download the learning plans quickly with less initial spend. Each learning plan purchase includes the certification pre-check and 2 certification applications. The LTC4 core competencies were developed by legal for legal, which the service believes sets the global standard for legal technology proficiency and working for a future where all legal professionals use technology efficiently and can prove it to their clients and their peers.
