Volkswagen to pay $2.8 billion in criminal fine

Volkswagen must pay a $2.8 billion criminal fine for deliberately creating a diesel engine equipped with software to cheat greenhouse gas emissions tests - the largest criminal fine ever negotiated by the US government for a carmaker.


Lead firms in oil spill litigation set for $87 million each

A committee of lawyers involved in litigation arising from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill has made its recommendation for dividing some $700 million in fees among 122 law firms involved - with two set to secure almost $90 million each.
