Retail veteran Harold Tillman CBE receives industry accolade as Arrigo Cipriani and Jade Jagger join Luxury Law Summit 2018 in recognising a year of amazing achievements.
Retail entrepreneur, investor and former head of British heritage brands Jaeger and Aquascutum, Harold Tillman CBE was awarded the prestigious Luxury Lifetime Award at the 6th Annual Luxury Law Awards in London. The Awards acknowledge organisations and individuals which have made their mark on the luxury industry sector. Mr. Tillman’s award recognises his long-standing contribution to the British fashion industry through various roles and responsibilities. A former chair of the British Fashion Council, he is Chairman of the Ethical Fashion Forum, a former trustee of the V&A and a champion of sustainability through Common Objective.
There were ten awards featured on the night. Australian London couturiers Ralph & Russo, the subject of speculation they may be the dressmakers for the wedding this week of Meghan Marple to Prince Harry, received the Luxury Business Leaders Award. Other awards went to Stella McCartney (Luxury Sustainability 2018) Alexandra Simmerson, Michael Kors (Luxury Business Rising Star – Young - In-House Lawyer of the Year), Rob Jones and Catherine Teatum, Teatum Jones (Luxury Entrepreneur 2018) Greer McMullen, Coty (Luxury Business In-House General Counsel of the Year), Aldis Firman, Lilou et Loic (Luxury New Business Award), Siddiqi Holding Legal Team (Luxury Business In-House Legal Team of the Year), Virgin and Dentons (Luxury Deal of the Year) and Bargate Murray (Luxury Law Firm of the Year). The awards form part of the 2018 London Luxury Law Summit, a two-day event bringing together general counsel, specialist legal teams, luxury entrepreneurs and premium business leaders to share knowledge on the opportunities and challenges in the luxury sector.The first day focussed on the issues surrounding luxpreneurship, highlighting the pitfalls and opportunities facing new founders of emerging premium brands. Day two hosted the Luxury Law Summit, a gathering of established luxury brands, counsel, IP lawyers, and business leaders to share ways to navigate data and brand protection, and discussing arrange of topics including the Sony hacking attacks. The highlights of the day included the legendary Arrigo Cipriani, the restauranteur and namesake of Venetian cultural icon Harry’s Bar, and Jade Jagger the luxury jewellery designer.
